A regional cluster consultation workshop on Human Resource Development in the sugarcane industry in Region 6 is ongoing at the Nature’s Village Resort, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The activity that ends today is part of a series of cluster consultations in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao facilitated by the Department of Labor and Employment’s Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns, is in line with the DOLE’s effort to mitigate the possible negative impact of the full implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community integration this 2015 in the sugarcane industry, a press release from DOLE said.

It aims to craft and develop an HRD roadmap to prepare the industry for whatever opportunities and challenges the AEC integration may bring, the press release said.

Representatives from national government agencies and other industry partners and stakeholders are participating in the activity.

The HRD Master Plan in the Sugarcane Industry is the DOLE’s initiative in support of the Sugar Regulatory Administration’s Sugar Industry Roadmap which will compose of programs and services for the sugar industry covering the period 2014-2016, the press release added.*
