Negros Occidental and Oriental officials are asking the President to create the Negros Island Region by executive order. The proposal is for the island-region to be composed of Negros Occidental that is currently part of Western Visayas, and Negros Oriental that now belongs to Central Visayas.

DSWD SAYS
Politicians cannot meddle
in list of 4Ps beneficiaries
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 7 reiterated recently that politicians cannot meddle in the Philippine government’s primary pro-poor agenda, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, or 4Ps.

This was highlighted during the DWSD-7 Convergence Strategy Orientation for the local media Monday at a hotel in Dumaguete City.

Asela Bella Tse, provincial link of the Pantawid Pamilya in Negros Oriental, said politics does not have a hand in the program, that seeks to alleviate the lives of the poorest families in the country through social assistance and social development. moremoremore
