The City Environment and Natural Resources office will implement the greening project, under the Urban Forestry Management and Development program, in Dumaguete City.
The project will be assisted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the project costs were apportioned between Dumaguete City and DENR at 40-60 percent sharing scheme, respectively.
The expansion of its components by UFMD through the city-wide urban greening project will focus on the green economy. The city has appropriated P240,000, and DENR P600,000 for the project.
City ENRO project development officer, Arestio Encabo, said the city can attain its target to raise the forest cover of the whole city by 56 percent, including green economic and social stability in the future.
He said the city, through ENRO, has institutionalized its on-going program on UFMD.*RG
