still missing at sea

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

There is still no sign of the six missing people, one a foreign national and his girlfriend who left Siaton, Negros Oriental, purportedly to go on a tuna fishing expedition about a week ago amid ongoing search operations.

The Coast Guard in Dumaguete said that as of Thursday night, the motorboat carrying the six people has not been found, despite sea and air operations in southern Negros as well as parts of Mindanao and even Palawan.

The missing persons were identified as Bradley Jay Fugate, 44, a U.S. citizen from California and temporarily residing in Camanjac, Dumaguete City, his girlfriend, 19-year old Cristina Tamondoc Andig, her brother, Roseldo Andig, Jovie Fundador, Rey Tamondoc Benetes, and Elmer Aniñon Sabroso, the pump boat operator.

NOPPO SAYS
Cops may wear civilian clothes
while serving arrest warrants
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Senior Supt. Mariano Natuel Jr., OIC provincial director of the Philippine National Police in Negros Oriental, said police operatives may wear civilian clothes while serving an arrest warrant and that this is a normal and acceptable practice.

Natuel’s explanation came after an amateur video clip that went viral on social media Tuesday showing people armed with short and long firearms and in civvies running after a man they later caught and apparently arrested.

The video stated several comments were posted on Facebook raising questions about the men in civilian clothes and why they were carrying high-powered firearms

The City Environment and Natural Resources office will implement the greening project, under the Urban Forestry Management and Development program, in Dumaguete City.

The project will be assisted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the project costs were apportioned between Dumaguete City and DENR at 40-60 percent sharing scheme, respectively.

The expansion of its components by UFMD through the city-wide urban greening project will focus on the green economy. The city has appropriated P240,000, and  DENR P600,000 for the project.
