MassKara dancers get
standing ovation in HK
The MassKara dancers of Barangay Granada received a rousing standing ovation from the Hong Kong audience during their parade performance in celebration of the 2015 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year night parade yesterday, a press release from the City Hall said.
The group, winner of last year’s MassKara Street Dance Open Category championship, wowed the audience with their colorful and lighted costumes as they danced alongside illuminated floats and other performing groups, starting at the Hong Kong Cultural Center Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui. They then made their way through Canton, Haiphong, Nathan and Salisbury Road, and capped off their dazzling production outside the famous Sheraton Hong Kong Hotels and Towers, the press release said.
Performers regaled the residents and tourists of Hong Kong in four staging areas, with presentations lasting for two minutes, it added.
The sole representatives of the Philippines were preceded by Hong Kong’s Jean M. Wong School of Ballet dance performance.
They are also scheduled for two 20-minute stage performances today and on the 21st at the Lam Tsuen Wishing Square in Tai Po, the press release also said.*

Kapuso stars joining BacoLaodiat
Several GMA stars will join the BacoLaodiat Festival celebration in Bacolod City today and tomorrow, on the theme “A decade of celebration. A lifetime of harmony”, a press release from the station said.
Metro Manila Film Festival Best Actress Jennylyn Mercado will lead her “Second Chances” co-stars Raymart Santiago, Rafael Rosell, and Camille Prats in a Kapuso Meet and Greet at the North Capitol Road, Bacolod City, 6 p.m. tonight. The stars of “Kailan Ba Tama Ang Mali”, Geoff Eigenmann, Empress Schuck, and Dion Ignacio will be featured in the Kapuso mall show 5 p.m. tomorrow at the SM City Bacolod, the press release also said.
Stars Elmo Magalona, Janine Gutierrez, Enzo Pineda, and Kylie Padilla also entertained their fans in Bago City, Negros Occidental, during the Babaylan Festival Wednesday.
Highlights of the network’s participation in the BacoLaodiat will be seen in Let's Fiesta TV Special, that will air on March 8 through the regional stations in Bicol, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Dagupan, Ilocos, GenSan, Bacolod, and CDO.

Rockfest winner named
The Nobela band from Cagayan de Oro City bested four other amateur rock groups, including Dumaguete’s IKACO, in the Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban Finals held at Plaza Maestranza in Intramuros recently, a press release from the company said.
Titled “Rakollision”, the concert playoff pitted Nobela against Blood over Matter, Ex Manager and Through the Waves. Nobela vocalist Jimmy Jin de Guzman, guitarist Mark Chester Crisostomo, bassist Von Galdo, and drummer Rozal Labandia met in church when they were in high school, became friends, and decided to form a band and joined competitions to share their love for music, the press release also said.
The band name was derived from the word, ‘Novel’, and de Guzman said they write about people’s lives and their own experiences.
The latest edition of Muziklaban shifted the focus back to the musicians. The aspiring rakistas were mentored by those in bands Wilabaliw, Kjwan, Razorback, Greyhoundz and Slapshock, the press release added.*
