Arms cache seized
BY SHIELA GELERA

Ten high-powered firearms, three hand guns, 9,842 bullets, 28 magazines and two silencers were seized in a raid at the house of a widow at Andrea Street in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City, Wednesday.

Operatives of the Regional Intelligence Unit-6, armed with a search warrant for violation of Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, issued by Regional Trial Court, Branch 51 Judge Anita Guanzon-Chua, swooped down the house of Paquita Sajo, 68, at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, police records show.

An M-16 rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, eight .22 caliber rifles, a .22 caliber volt action, a .9mm caliber pistol, and a .38 caliber revolver were recovered from an armory behind a secret door of the house, a source, who requested anonymity, told the DAILY STAR.

Only the two housemaids and the three lawyers of Sajo were at the house during the raid.

No firearm licenses were presented to the RIU-6 members.

Sajo’s husband, whose name was not disclosed, was a former security officer of a sugar corporation in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, a source said.

The firearms have been submitted to the Provincial Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination, a source added.

Sajo may face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.*SGG
