Cop faces murder raps
for killing of colleague

Another policeman has been included in the list of PNP members charged for murder, in connection with deaths of their colleagues, in Negros Occidental.
Police Officer 2 Reynaldo Bernel and Carlo Reosura, a former police asset, were charged yesterday for murder before the Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor's Office, in connection with the killing of SPO4 Roger Canete, the Silay City police CESPO ( Chief Executive Senior Police Officer) in Brgy. 2, EB Magalona on Wednesday.
Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, said yesterday that Bernel was positively identified as the one who killed Canete, based on witness accounts that corroborated results of investigations by the EB Magalona police.

turned over to court

The bullets, magazines and silencers seized in a raid on a residence in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City, Wednesday, were turned over to the Court yesterday, while the firearms are now at the custody of Provincial Crime Laboratory.
The ten high-powered firearms and three hand guns were subjected to ballistic examination, Senior Police Officer 1 Joshua Barile, of the Regional Intelligence Unit-6, said yesterday.
Barile said the 9,842 bullets, 28 magazines and two silencers were turned over to Judge Anita Guanzon-Chua, of Regional Trial Court, Branch 51, who issued the search warrant, that was also returned to the Court, Barile said.

IN DUMAGUETE
Burial fund depleted

Dumaguete City has extended a total of P2-million in burial assistance to 400 beneficiaries from last year and part of 2013, and has officially depleted its 2015 funds for the purpose.
The depletion of the funds is attributed to the issue with the number of deaths in the city in recently.
Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria Friday led the distribution of P5,000 each to 73 beneficiaries, the last of the six batches since January this year.
