The Choi Force group dominated seven other contestants in the BacoLaodiat Lantern Dance Competition Saturday in Bacolod City and received P60,000 in cash and a trophy.

Composed mostly of students from the Domingo Lacson National High School, the group also won Best in Costume and received a P10,000 cash prize.

Double J Full Force from Barangay Bata was first runner-up and won P40,000 cash, while WSWG from Brgy. 18 was second runner-up and won P20,000 in cash.

Dancing Dragons was Best in Lantern and won P10,000.

All the top winners also received trophies.

Meanwhile, Alvin Infante of Silay United Group of Artists was declared the champion in the Giant Goat Lantern Making Contest and won P30,000.

First runner-up was Noby Juno of Brgy. 9 who won P20,000, while second runner-up was Ebenezer Ursos Jr. of Artek who won 10,000.

The three winners also received certificates.

Cris Rosales of Kite Maker, Argie Payumo- of Arville Art Group, and Patrick Payumo of Adventurer, won consolation prizes of P5,000, each.

The lanterns were displayed at the SM North and South Al Fresco from February 14 to 22.

The winners were announced during the SM Bacolaodiat Champion's Day at SM City-Bacolod at 3 p.m. yesterday which started with a parade of top three Lantern Dance contingents around the mall.

Present during the activity were Bacolaodiat chairman Jennifer Gochangco-Ong, former festival director Leonito ‘Diotay’ Lopue and Bacolod City first lady Josefa Puentevella.*
