CLO shifts blames
for huge tax hike
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO
The City Legal Office of Bacolod City is blaming the previous administration for not adjusting the Tax Ordinance for nine years which has resulted in the excessive valuation of real properties by the present one.
City Legal Officer Rayfrando Diaz ll said the increase in the fair market value of properties has become excessive because the ones (referring to the group of Bacolod Rep. Evelio Leonardia) who filed the case did not adjust it for nine years. If they adjusted it every three years, the increase would not have been this excessive from the 2005 to the 2014 valuation, he said.
Bacolod City officials are now facing several court cases in connection with the passage of City Ordinance No. 08-14-700.

LTO: Lack of deputized agents
hampers roadside operations
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW
The lack of deputized agents is hampering the Land Transportation Office and other authorities in the effective implementation of traffic laws, rules and regulations, Janine Flores Lawas of LTO-Bayawan City in Negros Oriental, said recently.
Lawas said that until now, the agency has not made any announcements on the resumption of deputation of police personnel, local government traffic management office employees, and similar positions to assist the LTO.
In Negros Oriental, there are only 10 deputized regular LTO personnel, including Lawas, in the three LTO offices in Dumaguete, Bais and Bayawan.
