Rep. Julio Ledesma IV (Neg. Occ., 1st District) and boxing champion Rep. Manny Pacquiao (Sarangani) had the most number of absences in the House of Representatives for 2014, a report from Congress showed yesterday,
From Jan. 20 to Dec. 17, 2014 the House had 70 session days, 36 when the roll call was dispensed with, and 34 with roll call.
The attendance record of the House members shows Ledesma and Pacquiao present at only seven of the 34 session days where a roll call was made.
Ledesma was absent 13 times without notice, and 14 days for reported constituency work, and was only actually present in seven session days.
He could not be reached for comment on the House report as of press time.
Pacquiao was absent for two days without notice and 25 days for reported constituency work.
Among the representatives from Negros Occidental, those with the highest attendance were Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva (Neg. Occ., 2nd District) and Alejandro Mirasol (Neg. Occ., 5th District) having attended 31 of 34 recorded session days.
Cueva was absent three session days doing constituency work, while Mirasol was absent one day without notice and two days doing constituency work.
Rep. Evelio Leonardia (Bacolod) attended 29 sessions, was absent without notice four times, and once for constituency work.
Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) attended 24 sessions and had 10 absences without notice.
Rep. Mercedes Alvarez (Neg. Occ., 6th District) had an attendance record of 17, had two absences without notice and 15 days doing constituency work.
Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th District) had a total attendance record of 17 days with 17 absences without notice.
Negrense Rep. Stephen Paduano (Abang Lingkod partylist) only took oath on May 28, 2014 and attended 15 session days. He had no recorded absences.*CPG
