SP extends biz
permits deadline

An ordinance extending the deadline for the filing of applications for business permits and licenses and payment of fees and taxes to February 28, 2015 without surcharges and penalties, was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday on first, second and third reading.

The ordinance was authored by Councilor Claudio Puentevella and co-authored by Councilor El Cid Familiaran.

Earlier, the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry through its president Frank Carbon requested for an extension of the deadline of filing of City Business Permits for 2015 and the first quarter payment to February 28, in his letter dated January 9 to Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella and Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya.

Meanwhile, a resolution requesting the City Agriculturist Office through the Office of the City Mayor to encourage fruit distributor, fruit stalls and fruit stands within Bacolod not to use calcium carbide or calboro as ripening agents, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.

The resolution authored by Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez said studies indicate that calcium carbide or calboro contain traces of arsenic and phosphorus which make it a human health concern.

Calcium carbide or calboro is widely used as fruit ripening agents of mango and banana which is commonly distributed in the market.*CGS
