Economic dev’t gab on in Silay

The Silay City government and the UN Habitat have brought in foreign and local experts for a two-day economic development strategy formulation workshop held at the KSE Rondalla Hall, Silay City, that ends today.

A local economic development strategy is essential to guide the local governments, business leaders, NGOs and other stakeholders in the process of achieving sustainable economic growth, a press release from Silay City said.

Silay City Mayor Jose Montelibano said, "Since the UN Habitat recognized Silay as one of the fastest growing cities, we have been working with them in making plans and formulating strategies to better prepare us for urban expansion."

The workshop is led by Local Economic Development expert from Canada, William Trousdale who is also a UN Habitat Consultant.

Other resource persons for the strategy formulation workshop are Evelyn Jiz - UN Habitat-Achieving Sustainable Urban Development consultant, Nathaniel Vin Einsiedel - UN Habitat-ASUD consultant, Elias Gatanela - legal consultant, and Reinero Flores - project manager of UN Habitat-ASUD.*
