STI-WNU battles UNO-R as
OroPhil cagefest kicks off

Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association 2014 men’s basketball champion, STI-West Negros University,will face runner-up University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos tomorrow as competition begins in the 1st OROHIL Shipping-VMA Global College Basketball Open Tournament at VMAGC Gym at Barangay Sum-ag in Bacolod City.

The re-enactment of the NOPSSCEA finals between the STI-WNU Mustangs and UNO-R Rams is is set at 4 p.m. following the curtain raiser between host VMA Global College and Total at 2:30 p.m..

On Sunday, Carlos Hilado Memorial State College-Talisay and VMAGC will clash at 2 p.m. followed by the match-up between Computer Solutions and Total at 3:30 p.m..

Also seeing action in the tournament are Colegio Sta. Ana-Victorias and Ernest Logistics of Talisay, with both teams scheduled to make their debut in the tournament in next week’s schedule.

Tournament commissioner Melvin Baclay said the tournament will have a single round robin elimination with the top four advancing to another round robin semifinals.

The top two teams will dispute the championship on February 27 as one of the highlights of VMAGC Foundation Week celebration.

All games will be open to the public for free, organizing committee chairman Jose Batuigas said.*NAB
