The legal counsel of the man shown in the airport CCTV video, whose bags caused a 64-year-old Bacolod resident to trip and suffer serious injuries at the pre-departure area of the Bacolod Silay Airport in Silay City, yesterday apologized for the injuries suffered by the victim.

Rayfrando Diaz II said his client, whom he did not identify, never knew that the injuries suffered by Rosario Hofileña of Barangay Taculing, Bacolod, were that bad, and did not realize that there was a complaint about the incident.

He said his client welcomes the fact that all these things came to light and that he is now informed that the injuries were suffered but were “purely accidental.”.moremoremore

SP okays P7.50 tricycle
fare rate in Dumaguete
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dumaguete City approved yesterday an amendatory ordinance placing the minimum fare rate of motorcabs-for-hire, or tricycles, at P7.50.

The motion to adjust the fare rate for MCHs was made due to “insinuations” from the transport sector of another strike today if the city government failed to come up with a new adjusted fare rate, Councilor Franklin Esmeña Jr. said.

The new fare rate was hiked by one peso from the P6.50 adjustment about two weeks ago and caused a 12-hour transport strike in Dumaguete, when MCH drivers claimed it was not beneficial to them.moremoremore
