Judge calls for investigation
over ‘drugs trading' at BJMP
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE
Regional Trial Court judge Rafael Crescencio Tan Jr. of Negros Oriental is calling for an investigation into reports that shabu trading is rampant inside the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City, even as Operation Greyhounds is regularly conducted to flush contrabands, such as bladed weapons and illegal drugs.
“I know of one prisoner who is always asking money from his parents purportedly to pay for debts inside the jail,” he added.
Tan said he suspects the drug situation is getting worse that even inside the jail, peddling is happening with the possible connivance of jail guards..
