in Malabor slay probe

Residents of Isabela yesterday wept as the funeral car carrying the remains of slain Negros Occidental Board Member Renato Malabor drove through the town amid a drizzle yesterday morning.

The remains of Malabor, 55, who had served as mayor of Isabela for nine years, was brought to his home in Barangay 1, Isabela.

Malabor and his bodyguard Leody “Butch” Jomilla, 52, were shot from the back by a lone gunman with a 9 mm pistol outside a cockpit in Asenso Village, Barangay Guintubdan, Isabela, at 1:10 a.m. Sunday.moremoremore

‘Killing of two in
San Carlos drug related'

It was drug-related.

This was the initial findings of the police on the killing of Jimmy Snook, an alleged drug personality in Moises Padilla, and his companion, who was identified yesterday as Jay Russel Flores.

Snook and Flores were found dead inside a gray Chevrolet vehicle in Brgy. Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, Saturday, with gunshot wounds on their heads.moremoremore

Judge calls for investigation
over ‘drugs trading' at BJMP

Regional Trial Court judge Rafael Crescencio Tan Jr. of Negros Oriental is calling for an investigation into reports that shabu trading is rampant inside the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City, even as Operation Greyhounds is regularly conducted to flush contrabands, such as bladed weapons and illegal drugs.

“I know of one prisoner who is always asking money from his parents purportedly to pay for debts inside the jail,” he added.

Tan said he suspects the drug situation is getting worse that even inside the jail, peddling is happening with the possible connivance of jail guards..moremoremore
