The Philippine National Police Engineering Service in Camp Crame is inquiring about a possible site for the construction of the Police Regional Office 18 in the Negros Island Region.
Senior Supt. Samuel Nacion, officer-in-charge of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said he was instructed by higher headquarters to discuss the matter with Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.
Nacion also furnished Marañon with a letter from Police Chief Inspector Edwin Tapay Erni, acting director of the PNP Engineering Service in Camp Crame, on the activation of PRO 18.
Erni is seeking information on a possible site for the PRO 18 and its land area.
Nacion said the PNP will fund the cost of the construction.
The NIR regional center is expected to be constructed at the border of Kabankalan in Negros Occidental, and Mabinay in Negros Oriental, after a three to five-year transition period. In the meantime, regional offices that have been divided between Negros Occidental and Oriental will be located in Bacolod and Dumaguete cities.
It is not known if the PRO18 will also be located at the border of Mabinay and Kabankalan.*CPG
