“Bacolod is booming. We only have to look around to see the abundance of opportunities and the number of new buildings and infrastructures and realize that we have a condition that may be unprecedented in our history.”

This was the statement of Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella during his State of Booming Bacolod Address at the lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center yesterday, as he highlighted the investments coming to Bacolod City.

Puentevella delivered his report before members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod led by Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya and representatives from the different sectors. The hour-and-a-half speech included video testimonial speeches from beneficiaries of the city's programs. moremoremore

NEGROS SP UPS BOUNTY TO P2.5M

The reward for anybody who may provide information that may lead to the arrest of the gunman behind the assassination of Negros Occidental Board Member Renato Malabor and his bodyguard, is now P2.5 million.

Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, who presided over the emotion-filled Sangguniang Panlalawigan regular session, yesterday announced that they are augmenting the P2 million reward being offered by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. with P500,000 more.

Lacson said the additional bounty, which will be taken from salaries of board members, including himself, aims to speed up the probe and give immediate justice to Malabor..moremoremore

Degamo orders intensified
campaign vs. criminality

Governor Roel Degamo issued Executive Order 15-10, that tasks the police to r un after persons doing illegal activities in Negros Oriental.

The EO dated June 30 ordered the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office to further intensify and strengthen its campaign against all forms of criminality, like illegal gambling such as swertres, illegal drugs, quarrying and illegal logging.

Degamo issued the order after reports that certain personalities in the province are behind the proliferation of illegal gambling activities and selling of drugs. He warned persons from using his name in such illegal activities. .moremoremore
