Ceneco holds
medical mission

About 150 residents of Barangay Katilingban in Talisay City , Negros Occidental, participated in the medical mission conducted by the Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. , led by District VIII Talisay d irector Paul Lizares, in the b arangay recently, its press release said.

C ommon health issues addressed by the c oop p hysician, Dr. Manuel Limsiaco III , included f ever, cough, flu and poor appetite among children , and arthritis, high blood and trouble in sleeping on adults, the press release also said .

Residents , especially children in farflung areas like Katilingban , need more medical help since outreach missions are rare ly held in these places , Lizares said .

The Ceneco team also turned over medicines to the Barangay Health Center to benefit more residents. Scholarship portal on

Social enterprise start-up Edukasyon.ph has launched an online portal where high school students can find courses, schools, and scholarships on one site for free , its press release said .

Students can find schools and scholarships that match their interests and needs just by logging on at www.edukasyon.ph , and registering to get a listing of Philippine universities and courses, and scholarship updates , the press release also said .

The website boasts of more than 3,000 schools, 30,000 courses, and 2,000 scholarships offered all over the Philippines. “We want to make it easier for students to find the different educational options available for them. Through our online portal, students can explore all the college and technical-vocational courses offered in the country, Edukasyon.ph c hief e xecutive o fficer Linartes Viloria said .

Rotary presidents installed

Dr. Benjamin Souribio, Luis Cuenca, and Gardenia de Erit were installed as presidents of Rotary clubs Bacolod East, Marapara and Central, respectively, by immediate past district (3850) Governor Joe Jay Doctora in a joint induction and turnover ceremonies at L'Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City, Wednesday.

Souribio succeeded from immediate past president Sonya Verdeflor, Cuenca from immediate PP Ivan Randy Ereñeta, and Irit from immediate PP Rolem Basiya. Other officers and new members of the three clubs were also inducted into office by past district governor Maria Victoria Garcia of the Rotary Club of Marapara and Doctora, a press release from the club said.

Past district governor Ildefonso Elegado was tasked to charge the new members, while District 3850 governor Oliver Ong congratulated the new presidents, other officers and members for accepting the responsibility in leading the club and ensuring the delivery of community service in the spirit of volunteerism.

Bacolod City Rep. Evelio Leonardia and Mayor Monico Puentevella attended the occasion and gave congratulatory messages, while Connie Angeles, senior vice president and executive director of the Health and Medical Programs of SM Foundation Inc., was the guest speaker and shared her experience of helping the community, the press release said. *
