“As long as God grants me good health to serve the people of Bacolod City, I'll do my very best,” said Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella on his 69 th birthday yesterday.
Puentevella said he had showed his passion to serve when he was yet congressman. “Now, I promise more passion in my capacity to serve as leader of Bacolod,” he said, hinting that he wants to finish three terms as mayor.
The mayor again thanked those whom he said helped him make Bacolod boom, saying that their collective effort is one of the reasons why the city is gaining ground in the Philippines.
No one can solely claim this because all Bacolodnons helped to make Bacolod succeed and progress, he said.
“The gains we have made is because of the cooperation of the people of Bacolod, especially the vice mayor and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, barangay captains and employees,” Puentevella said.
Puentevella said that he is very honored and blessed to serve the people, although he admitted that there is still much work to do. This, however, can be achieved if the city gathers as one family, he said.
“In order to become one of the best cities in the country, we must continue to unite as one” he said, adding that he needs everybody's cooperation.
“What we have achieved so far is not for me, but for our city,” said Puentevella, who celebrated his birthday despite the heavy rain at the Bantug Lake Ranch in Brgy. Alangilan.
Puentevella's family and friends, several councilors, executive assistants, department heads, and barangay captains joined in the celebration.
Also present was Rep. Stephen Paduano of Abang Lingkod Partylist.*CGS
