Seven fishermen from Victorias City, Negros Occidental, are missing at sea, Lt. Commander Ramil Palabrica, Coast Guard Bacolod Station chief, said yesterday.
Palabrica said the Coast Guard suspended sea travel from five points in Negros Occidental due to rough seas as a safety precaution yesterday, following the sinking of MB Nirvana in Ormoc Thursday that left 48 dead.
The Coast Guard has also stepped up safety and pre-departure inspections on sea crafts, he added.
Balikbayans lose
P2M in jewelry

A Negrense balikbayan couple from the United States lost P2 million worth of jewelry after their house at a high-end subdivision in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, was burglarized, the police said yesterday.
But the police managed to arrest the perpetrator, identified as Eduardo Alontaga, in Bacolod City Thursday, Inspector Vernon John Llovido, Talisay City police deputy chief for Operations, said yesterday.
Alontaga is the live-in partner of the caretaker of the house of the Delgado family, Llovido said.

FOR APEC 2015
Incident command simulation held

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Office of Civil Defense in Negros Oriental completed yesterday a two-day simulation on Incident Command System (ICS) in preparation for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 2015 in Cebu next month.
Governor Roel Degamo ordered the ICS simulation activity in anticipation of APEC delegates and their families coming to Negros Oriental on rest and relaxation, or to visit tourism destinations in the province, Adrian Sedillo, PDRRMC executive officer and Capitol spokesperson, said yesterday.
He said tabletop exercises on scenarios on human-induced and natural disasters, and emergencies, were the center of the simulation attended by PDRRMC members, who had previously undergone training on the ICS.
