DuPont Crop Protection held its second stewardship celebration Saturday at the Negros Weekend Market in Bacolod City as part of the Fil-American Friendship Day celebration.
DuPont marketing manager Victor Oliver Venus said the activity with the theme “Celebrating Philippine-American Friendship Day” was held by Dupont, an American company working with DC Cruz Trading Corporation, to thank their loyal customers for using their products.
Venus said stewardship is taking care of the environment and they want their customers in the sugarcane industry to be responsible planters themselves.
“This is specific to the use of crop protection products like our products in DuPont. When they use our products, we want them to take care of the environment by not throwing their waste packaging materials anywhere,” he said.
To make this very actionable, they ask the planters to keep their waste packaging materials and DuPont will be the avenue to its proper disposal in partnership with a cement factory, Venus said.
Venus said they collect the packaging materials and encourage the growers to keep them so they can exchange them for raffle coupons.
They raffled off the coupons Saturday for items like boots, personal protective equipments and knapsack sprayer, among others, he said.
This is their second year on the stewardship celebration in Negros and the sugarcane industry, he added.*CGS
