Vallacar offers city terminal lot
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Vallacar Realty Inc. has offered to donate to the Bacolod City government an about 5,406 square-meter property at the boundary of barangays Tangub and Alijis, Bacolod City, to develop as a site for the new southbound terminal.

Jesideth Seballos, legal and media relations manager, said Saturday that Vallacar and Mayor Monico Puentevella have already started initial talks about the proposed lot donation.

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod had earlier passed a resolution authorizing Puentevella to look for a site for the Bacolod southbound terminal.

The Yanson family is donating the property to the city because they want to be part of the development of the province, especially Bacolod City, Seballos said.

It is a prime property located at the boundary of barangays Tangub and Alijis and if the offer is accepted, a memorandum of agreement will be signed between the city and Vallacar Realty, she said.

If the city government accepts the offer, it will construct the south terminal, and Vallacar will also construct its own, aside from establishing a public market within the property, Seballos said.

Puentevella welcomes the donation of property, saying it will be beneficial to the city. The mayor said he has created a Technical Working Group that will study the construction of the proposed south terminal.

After the TWG finishes the study, this will be presented to the SP for approval, before it will be offered for bidding, Puentevella said.

Other possible sites earlier considered for the proposed new Southbound Transport Terminal of Bacolod were in barangays Sum-ag, Pahanocoy, and Punta-Taytay.

Meanwhile, Seballos said their northbound terminal, which is undergoing improvement, will open in December.*CGS
