A prevailing market price report from the Provincial Veterinary Office for the month of June showed that the prices of eggs went down slightly, in comparison to May egg prices.
Dr. Renante Decena, provincial veterinarian, yesterday said that delays in market delivery and the decrease in demand were some of the factors that affected the reduction of egg prices.
The price report indicated that chicken egg prices decreased by around three to six centavos per piece, with prices of small eggs down from P5.49 to P5.43, medium eggs down from P6.18 to P6.15, large eggs down from P6.82 to P6.78, and XL eggs went down from P7.36 to P7.32.
Salted eggs also went down by 12 centavos, which resulted in price changes from P11.17 to P11.05 per piece.
Decena also said that the feed intake of laying birds is likewise low during the rainy season, which also affected the production of eggs and salted eggs in the province.*PSF
