A 3-year-old boy whose head keeps on growing bigger needs help to undergo surgery before it is too late to save him.

Vincent Prudente of Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City, has communicating hydrocephalus.

The boy cannot get up on his own and walk because of the weight of his head.

Hydrocephalus is a medical condition in which there is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. This causes increased intracranial pressure inside the skull and progressive enlargement of the head if it occurs in childhood.

Dr. Carmelo Canto said the boy needs to undergo surgery to arrest the growth of his head and to enable him to live a normal life.

Canto said he recommended that the boy be admitted at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod for surgery.

Vincent's mother, Wiljean, said they are appealing for financial help for the boy's medical expenses as they have barely enough money to even meet their daily needs.

Vincent's father, Jilby, works as a laborer in a sugarcane farm.

Wiljean said when Vincent was a few months old, his head just started getting bigger and bigger.

Wiljean and Jilby also have a 1-year-old daughter named Jane.

Those who wish to help Vincent may send their assistance to the Visayan DAILY STAR, or call 434-5642.*CPG
