The Department of Trade and Industry has delisted certain hardware items from its List of Products under Mandatory Certification, in compliance with Department Administrative Order No. 15-01, Series of 2015, entitled “Measures to Facilitate the Issuance of the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC)”.
DTI Negros Occidental consumer specialist, Reginald Hudierez, said yesterday that products including ceramic tiles, plywood, flat glass, common nails and galvanized iron sheets have been delisted.
Hudierez also noted the delisting from mandatory certification of performance and labeling standards of self-ballasted lamps, single-capped fluorescent lamps, double-capped fluorescent lamps, and magnetic and electronic ballasts.
Before, these imported items were required to apply for ICC mandatory certification, but now, because of the numerous entries for these products at the facilities that perform certification, they were removed from the list of mandatory certified products in order for business establishments to conduct smoother transactions in dealing with these products to consumers, Hudierez said.
Earlier, Consumer Protection Group Undersecretary Victorio Mario Dimagiba said that the delisting of these products and standards is “to further complement the policies intended to fast-track the processing of ICC applications.”
A press release said that the delisted products are subject to compliance with the mandatory markings and labeling requirements, such as trade name or brand, trademark, model or type, name and address of importer or manufacturer, country of manufacture, and, if applicable, direction for use.
The mandatory markings shall be on a self-declaration basis and may be subjected to verification or validation, if needed.*PSF
