Tesda allots P35 million
for scholars in Neg. Or.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority allotted P35 million for scholarship grants in Negros Oriental this year, provincial director Floro Ringca during the graduation of 296 students from the Provincial Integrated Skills Training Center yesterday.

He said the amount is for almost 5,000 scholars in 17 private and public schools in the province, to include scholars enrolled at PISTC, those under the Private Education Student Financial Assistance, Special Training for Employment Program where tools are distributed to the graduates, and from towns under the Bottom Up Budgeting program.

Of the 296 students who graduated yesterday, 24 are Tesda scholars and 49 grantees of the provincial government.

SSS deploys mobile E-centers
in remote Visayas areas

Social Security System offices in the Visayas region extended their resources to remote communities so that residents can have easier access to social security services, including registering as members and updating their membership, its press release said.

SSS officer in charge for Western Visayas Division, Raul Casiano, said the branches in Dumaguete, Kalibo and Iloilo deployed mobile E-centers or temporary desks in far-flung areas so that services like SSS registration, salary loan application, ID capture, member data change request, and status inquiry are within reach of potential and existing members, the press release also said.

Mobile E-centers were also set up in Siquijor and Guimaras, Bayawan City in Negros Oriental, and Passi in Iloilo recently. “With this project, we expect to see more active membership as well as improved collections,” Casiano said.

Population census
reset to Aug. 10
BY RENE GENOVE

The date of listing and enumeration for the 2015 Census of Population was moved from August 1, to Aug. 10-Sept. 6 at the Negros Oriental Provincial Convention Center Capitol area in Dumaguete City.

Philippine Statistics Authority-Negros Oriental statistician, Felida Generoso, said the schedule was moved to give more time for the training of enumerators and other preparations for this year's PopCen.

The PSA hired enumerators and team supervisors to conduct the census. The regular staff of PSA in Negros Oriental will act as census area supervisors, its press release said.
