NPC: Colmenares
to replace Malabor

The Nationalist People's Coalition yesterday chose former Board Member Angelito Colmenares to replace their slain colleague, Renato Malabor, as representative of the 5 th District in the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said.
Malabor, 55, and his bodyguard Leody Jomilla, 52, were killed by a lone gunman in Isabela, Negros Occidental, on June 28.
The family of Malabor, who was a member of the NPC, had asked that his son Renato Malabor Jr. take over his post on the provincial board.
Cops seize P1.2M in shabu

About P1.2 million worth of suspected shabu was seized from a taxi driver at a parking lot of a mall in Barangay 12, Bacolod City, at about 5 p.m. yesterday, Supt. Leonardo Angcon, head of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, said.
Paterno Lusabia, 32, of Barangay Sum-ag in Bacolod, was nabbed after he sold P2,000 worth of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer, Angcon said.
About 200 grams of suspected shabu were seized from a box that was being carried by Lusabia, he added.

2 mothers nabbed for drugs

A former member of the Barangay Intelligence Network in Dumaguete was shot dead by still unidentified suspects in Purok Orchids, Sitio Canday-ong in Barangay Calindagan in the city Monday.
Sherwin Loyloy, 38, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds from a .45 caliber pistol, and seven spent shells of the same caliber were recovered at the crime scene.
Police said Loyloy was on his way home to Banilad from an alleged gambling den and was tailed by three suspects on a motorcycle. When they reached Purok Orchids, a back-rider alighted and shot the victim in the back several times.
