'Crime buster' caught
with P.8M in ‘shabu'

About P800,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized from a member of the Crime-Monitoring Action Group in a buy-bust operation at a cellular phone shop at Mabini Street in Barangay 40, Bacolod City, at about 10:45 a.m. yesterday.

A total of 20 sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 113 grams were recovered from Amiro Tantua, 27, of Barangay 30 in Bacolod, by members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Negros Occidental Satellite Office, a police report showed.

On Tuesday, the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group also arrested Paterno Lusabia, 32, of Barangay Sum-ag in Bacolod, and recovered from him about P1.2 million worth of shabu, at the parking lot of a mall in the city.moremoremore

VP arriving today
for 3-day visit

Vice President Jejomar Binay will arrive in Bacolod City today for a three-day visit to Negros Occidental.

Binay is set to talk with fisherfolk and senior citizens at the bagsakan fish port in Sitio Sibucao, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod, 10:30 a.m. today, former Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez, a member of Binay's United Nationalist Alliance, said.

The Vice President will also meet with barangay officials and informal settlers of Brgy. Vista Alegre at the covered court in front of the Vista Alegre Granada Elementary School at 3:15 p.m., and will talk with the officials of Brgy. Taculing at their barangay hall at 5 p.m. today.moremoremore

Driver dies in
motorcycle, bus collision

A motorcycle driver died when his vehicle collided with a Ceres bus at the national highway, crossing Maninihon, in Barangay Villareal, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police identified the driver as Rogelio Cañedo Sr., 55, of Sitio Cayaocao, Barangay Narra in Bayawan City, who died on the spot. Investigation showed the motorcycle was travelling without headlight, and was at the crossing of Maninihon when it collided with the bus, with body no. 7595, and driven by Ricky Francisco, 33, of Brgy. Nagbalaye, Santa Catalina, also in Negros Oriental.

Cañedo was rushed to the Bayawan District Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician. .moremoremore
