Bacolod plummets to 73
in PH competitive index
From Number 2 to Number 73!
In 2010 Bacolod City was Number 2 in the All Cities Competitive Index of the National Competitiveness Council of the Philippines. It fell to No. 20 in 2014.
Today, it has plummeted to No. 73, a drop in ranking by 71.
“This is the worst competitiveness ranking the city ever had,” Rep. Evelio Leonardia who was city mayor until Monico Puentevella took over in 2013, said.
“This also a sad and shocking day for Bacolod,” he added.

NOPPO chief surprised to
see drinkers at side streets
BY RENE GENOVE
Negros Oriental Provincial Police officer in charge, Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos, conducted a spot inspection of business establishments selling liquors to minors at Flores Avenue in Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City, recently.
He said he was surprised to see residents and visitors drinking liquor at the side streets of Flores Avenue, rather than inside business establishments in the area.
In his Facebook post yesterday, Carlos said a group of minors were caught drinking liquor with some companions. He added an enterprising lady in a multicab was selling brandy and beer without the necessary mayor's permit.
