Bulawan Awards judging held
BY PEACE S. FLORES

More than 30 exhibitors flaunted their wares from food, fashion to furniture as judges evaluated their handiwork during the opening day of the 25th Bulawan Awards at Robinsons Place in Bacolod City organized by the Association of Negros Producers (ANP) yesterday.

Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella congratulated the ANP members for their efforts in creating truly Negrense products.

The city government is very proud of the Bacolod-based products featured at the ANP's Bulawan week, he said.

ANP Chairperson Josephine Locsin expressed hopes that Negrense producers in the future would delve into less undertaken areas of production, particularly metalworking and fabricating handicrafts from shells or capiz, since the province is rich in the raw materials for these areas of production.

We are trying to encourage producers to make products that have marketability and are capable of selling themselves. By next year, we look forward to inviting producers from Negros Oriental, considering that we are already one region, she said.

Being able to entice buyers and investors from Manila, and other localities and countries, to patronize our local products would also work well for the Negrense economy, Locsin added.

Bulawan Awards Chairperson Baby Madera said she looks forward to the success of the event and was impressed by the innovativeness of Negrense producers in the areas of food, furniture, fashion, novelties and more.

Our main objective is not merely to generate income for our local producers but to also showcase their creativity, industriousness and commitment to make excellent products, she said.

The award winners in the categories of gifts and housewares, fashion and garments, furniture and furnishings, food industry, and health and wellness will be revealed during today's awarding ceremonies.*PSF
