The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office beefed up the Himamaylan City police force with additional policemen, after receiving reports of retaliation and an attempt to rescue the five detained suspects charged for illegal possession of drugs and paraphernalia.
A total of 299.28 grams of shabu with a street value of P1.8 million were recovered Friday by the police from the five arrested suspects during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Libacao, Himamaylan City.
The five suspects arrested identified as Luis Felicisimo Limsiaco, his brother, Leo, Jose Maria Jales Limsiaco, Jessica Mediodia and Ian Nepales, are now facing charges for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002, before the Himamaylan City Prosecutor's Office.
An additional charge for illegal possession of firearms was filed against Luis Limsiaco, following the recovery of a homemade shotgun with ammunition.
Considering the big volume of shabu they confiscated from the suspects, Supt. Antonietto Canete, Himamaylan City police chief, yesterday said that they received reports of possible retaliation from the supplier of the prohibited drugs.
The Himamaylan police was among the units in Negros Occidental recognized by NOPPO for their intensified campaign against drugs, in a ceremony held at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.
Last week, the police also arrested five suspects in Brgy. 4, Himamaylan City, which also yielded 14 grams of suspected shabu, with a street value of P84,000.*GPB
