ABK3 LEAP, in partnership with the Provincial Council for the Rights and Welfare of Children (PCRWC) of Negros Occidental, will amplify the plight of Negrense child laborers at the provincial celebration of World Day Against Child Labor at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon Park in Bacolod City this morning.
About 1,000 children, parents, local government units and sugar industry partners from the 14 partner cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental will join hands in the advocacy to end hazardous child labor in Negros Occidental's sugar industry, a ABK3 LEAP press release said.

Social entrepreneur to speak
A 28-year-old Negrense social entrepreneur, agriculturist and farmer will talk on agri-business at the eighth installation of the Organic Market at The District North Point Ayala Mall in Talisay City that opens tomorrow, until Sunday.
Cherrie Atillano, who grew up in Silay City and was a scholar of the Provincial Capitol under the Pagkaon Scholarship Program, will talk on "AGREA: The Business of Agri-business" 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, a press release from organizers said.
Atillano graduated magna cum laude from the Visayas State University with a degree on agriculture. She is a founder of AGREA Agricultural Systems International, and a consultant of the Department of Agrarian Reform.

Brahman cattle
The Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Animal Industry is importing 1,367 heads of Brahman cattle in September to support the cattle industry of the country, including Negros Occidental.
A consultative meeting was conducted among members of the Federation of Cattle Raisers of the Philippines and the United Cattle Raisers Association in Negros Occidental at the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) on Wednesday, in which details of the importation were discussed.
A third of the imported Brahmin cattle will be allocated for FCRAP with 200 heads going to its Visayas members, Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said yesterday.
