LTFRB: 11 Ceres buses
could face suspension
SHOW-CAUSE ORDER ISSUED VS. VTI
BY GILBERT BAYORAN
Regional Director Romulo Bernardes of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board signed yesterday afternoon a show- cause order to be issued to Vallacar Transit Inc. today, and said that a preventive suspension could be imposed on buses under two franchises of the firm.
This was after two Ceres Liner buses of VTI collided at the highway of Brgy. Santo Niño in EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, leaving four passengers dead and 47 injured Wednesday.
Bernardes, who was at the accident scene Wednesday, said the show cause order requires VTI to submit an explanation on the incident to the LTFRB.

Lacson, who met with VTI representatives, following an accident involving two Ceres buses Wednesday at the national highway of Brgy. Santo Niño in EB Magalona, also called on the management to have their drivers undergo rigid training and seminars on driving.
The vehicular accident claimed the lives of four passengers and injury to 47 others.

DFA exec: West PHL Sea
dispute an election issue
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW
Assistant Secretary Charles Jose of the Department of Foreign Affairs lobbied to make the West Philippine Sea territorial dispute with China an election issue as the country gears up for the 2016 presidential and national polls.
He sounded off his call as he met with multiple sectors in two forums on the West Philippine Sea in Dumaguete City yesterday.
The territorial dispute with China is certainly an issue that political candidates must address in the coming elections, Jose said.
