The residential rate for the July billing of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative is P10.3365/kWh, a P0.5001/kwh increase from last month's P9.8364/kWh, its general manager, Chuchie Destriza, said in a press release yesterday.
The upward adjustment in CENECO's effective rate can be mainly attributed to the Generation System Charge, which shows an increase of 8.37 percent compared to the previous month, the press release said.
The increase was due to a scheduled maintenance and forced outage of Kepco-Salcon Power Corp. power plant, that increased the market price due to power shortage, she said in the press release.
Generation Charges and Transmission Charges are pass-through charges being billed to CENECO by its power suppliers and transmission service provider, Deztriza said, adding that the Distribution Charges, which are charges pertaining to CENECO, remain constant, the press release said.
With the July rate increase, residential consumers with energy consumption of 100kWhrs, will be billed an additional P50.01, it added.*
