Barangay officials may also be granted the Productivity Enhancement Incentive, as mandated by Executive Order 181 of President Benigno Aquino, provided it is within the personnel services limitation of the barangay.

The clarification was made by the Organization, Position, Classification, and Compensation Bureau of the Department of Budget and Management, after queries were sent by barangay officials, including that of the Dumaguete Liga ng mga Barangay, represented by Councilor Lionel Banogon.

Banogon said he received a communication from the National Barangay Operations Office of DBM, through OIC director Leocado Trovela, dated July 28, adding he immediately sent copies of it to all 30 barangays of Dumaguete.

Lactating moms urged
to join 3rd ‘HaKab Na'

Lactating mothers in Dumaguete City and neighboring areas are encouraged to join the “HaKab Na!” breastfeeding activity Saturday in the city, in celebration of the National Breastfeeding Awareness Month in August, a government press release said.

Now on its third year, the event will gather breastfeeding mothers, lactation experts, peer counselors, and advocacy supporters to boost awareness of the health and economic benefits of breastfeeding, promote the importance of providing proper support to breastfeeding mothers, and create a breastfeeding nation, the press release also said.

Maja Arbolado of Dagit Dumaguete said this year's celebration will highlight the breastfeeding mothers who work outside the home. It will also feature talks on breastfeeding topics and breast milk storage.
