The Philippine National Police may have filed murder charges against the suspects in the killing of Negros Occidental Board Member Renato Malabor and his bodyguard, but its probe continues focusing on indentifying the mastermind and determining the motive for the killing.
Senior Supt. Samuel Nacion, officer-in-charge of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, yesterday said the Special Investigation Task Group is still gathering more evidence to further strengthen their case against the suspects.
SITG Malabor charged PO1 Robert Chloe Rito, a member of the Isabela Police Station, Jacklyn Villaquer, Felipe Juntarciergo, alias Bongbong, Taning, Nonoy and Jason, and several John Does for the murder of Malabor and Leody “Butch” Jumilla on June 28 in Brgy. Guintubhan, Isabela, before the Negros Occidental Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday.

Support for the presidential bid of Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas by members of the United Negros Alliance and Love Negros has nothing to do with merger talks of both groups on the local level, Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday.
Marañon, who heads UNA, and Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson of Love Negros, along with other Roxas supporters from the two Negros political groups, are attending the anointing of the Local Government secretary by President Benigno Aquino III as the standard bearer of the Liberal Party at the Club Filipino in San Juan City this morning.
Malacañang confirmed yesterday that Aquino will endorse Roxas during “A Gathering of Friends” but did not say whether his runningmate would be named, too.

Barangay officials may also be granted the Productivity Enhancement Incentive, as mandated by Executive Order 181 of President Benigno Aquino, provided it is within the personnel services limitation of the barangay.
The clarification was made by the Organization, Position, Classification, and Compensation Bureau of the Department of Budget and Management, after queries were sent by barangay officials, including that of the Dumaguete Liga ng mga Barangay, represented by Councilor Lionel Banogon.
Banogon said he received a communication from the National Barangay Operations Office of DBM, through OIC director Leocado Trovela, dated July 28, adding he immediately sent copies of it to all 30 barangays of Dumaguete.
