Officials cross party lines
for Ilonggo in Malacañang

Elected officials in Negros Occidental crossed party lines at a dinner in Bacolod City Saturday night hosted by Judy Araneta Roxas, mother of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas, where she and Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. rallied Negrense support to put an Ilonggo in Malacañang in 2016.
At the dinner at the Araneta ancestral home in Bacolod, Marañon introduced Mrs. Roxas as the mother of the next president of the Philippines.
“We belong to different political parties but we have only one purpose to put an Ilonggo, a Negrosanon, in Malacañang,” Marañon said.
Poe, Escudero meeting
with Negros mayors, too

Senators Grace Poe and Chiz Escudero, a potential tandem for the country's top two posts in the 2016 polls, will be in Bacolod City today.
The two will go radio interview hopping, hold a press conference in the morning, and join lunch with Negros Occidental officials, a source from Poe's camp said.
Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, (Neg., Occ., 3 rd District) arranged the lunch meeting to also be attended by mayors of Negros Occidental, the source added..

killed in shoot-out with cops

His luck finally came to an end.
A suspect linked to a shooting incident, who was killed May 28 in a shoot-out with policemen in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, turned out to be a “high risk” suspected leader of a carnapping-robbery group, who had escaped from jail in Negros Oriental, in March this year.
Chief Inspector Eduardo Corpuz, Kabankalan police officer-in-charge, yesterday identified the slain suspect as Ricardo Ebasan, 44, of Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
