Cop ‘kills' ex-SAF member
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE
A police officer, who received an award from the Philippine National Police in 1998, is being investigated for the fatal shooting of a former member of the Army's Special Action Force in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, Thursday.
Police Officer 3 Carl Marc Logronio Jopillo, 37, presently assigned at the Guihulngan City police station, claimed he was conducting a surveillance operation of drug personalities in Sitio Pisok, Poblacion in Guihulngan City, when the former SAF, identified as Reynaldo Olila, the husband of his sister-in-law, arrived. Olila was allegedly unruly and apparently under the influence of intoxicating liquor, he added.
Jopillo said he advised Olila to calm down but, instead, the latter allegedly tried to pull a gun from his waist, prompting the cop to disarm the former Army man.
