Philippine Army and Police officials met yesterday to discuss security measures for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 2015 activities in Cebu.

On August 22 to September 6, 2015, the Third Senior Officials' Meeting and Related Meetings of the APEC 2015 will be held in Cebu, the APEC 2015 website said.

Col. Allan Martin, commander of the 302 nd Infantry Brigade of the Army based in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, said while the APEC events are to be held in Cebu, they have to prepare a security plan to accommodate tourist influx from the meetings.

Martin said it is possible that some APEC participants will bring their families with them and they might visit other places in Region 7, such as Negros Oriental and Siquijor.

He added the brigade will deploy personnel in Cebu to beef up security.

Meanwhile, Martin said the provincial Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council will begin its regular meetings January 2016 in preparation for the May 2016 presidential elections.*JFP
