Action heats up with crucial games at stake tonight in Your Basketball Athletic Club as the teams of club chairman Jun Ballesteros and lawyer Arnel Lapore will turn deciders of the upcoming semifinals next week at the STI-West Negros University gym, a press release from YBAC said.
With two wins and three losses, No. 3 Team Ballesteros will face league leader Team Ibe (3-2) in the main event while cellar dweller Team Lapore (2-3) takes on vice president's Vincent Javelosa's squad (3-2) in the first game.
A win for the Ballesteros and Lapore sides will force the team standing to quadruple even with all teams earning a 3-3 win-loss slate.
But for Ballesteros to take the upperhand in the team standings, it must win by at least by 33 against Team Ibe ahead of the semifinals. This after Ibe's ward poured 32-point triumph (89-57) during their first face-off last May, the press release said.
Meanwhile, to earn an edge in the semifinals, Team Lapore must post at least 20-point advantage over Javelosa's squad after the latter edged them by 19 points (87-68) during their initial match.
In previous weekend's schedule, Javelosa beat Ballesteros, 74-66, behind Lito Diolaso's 17points and Mario Reyes' 14 markers while, Abraham Magay paced the losing side with 23 points.
On the other hand, team Lapore edged Ibe, 100-91, on Gherson Sipe's 22 points and Kokoy Pendon's 15 points as Dr. Emil Guanzon poured 8 triples for his total 35 points for the losing team.*
