Ceneco to set new date
for Energreen delivery

The Board of Directors of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative and Energreen Power Development and Management Inc. officials will meet on March 11 on the delivery date of contracted power supply of Energreen to Ceneco after the diesel plant failed to meet the February 26 target, Ceneco president Arnel Lapore said yesterday.

Majority of the members of the Ceneco Board approved a resolution extending the delivery date of contracted power supply of Energreen to the power utility firm during a special board meeting Friday.

Lapore said the directors rejected the first recommendation of the technical and legal management of Ceneco that was to rescind the contract for Energreen’s failure to deliver power supply to Ceneco Thursday as provided in the memorandum of agreement between Ceneco and Energreen.

IN BANGKOK
Crackdown on street stalls

BANGKOK - They sell everything from noodle soup to sex toys, but Bangkok's famed street hawkers are now facing a crackdown as authorities in the fast-growing metropolis struggle to make space for pedestrians on the crowded pavements.

The move to relocate thousands of sellers from main roads to side streets or restrict touting to the night is part of a campaign to "reclaim the sidewalks" that comes as the ruling junta vows to "clean-up" Thailand's image.

Bangkok residents have long shared their streets with merchants, relying on them for cheap meals and household goods, while tourists are readily found haggling over knock-off handbags, T-shirts or cut-price DVDs.

Petilla pushes faster
PEMC investigations

MANILA - Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla is pushing for faster Philippine Electricity Market Corp. results on its investigations regarding the violations of the electricity market's Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) trading rules.

"When PEMC investigates, they usually investigate violations that happened two to three years ago. PEMC's like that... So I told them effective immediately, all investigations will have to be as updated as possible," Petilla told reporters.

He stressed the three year gap discourages generation companies to have discipline, adding it will only result in lawsuits.
