NOFA plans to expand membership
YANSON BARES LINE-UP OF 2015 ACTIVITIES

The new leadership of the Negros Occidental Football Association plans to increase its membership this year.

This was revealed by businessman and sports executive Ricardo  Yanson Jr., who assumed the presidency of the association in January.

“I envision to invite new members for our association to succeed,” Yanson said at the first NOFA assembly, held after many years,  at Business Inn Saturday morning.

More than 70 officers, members, players and prospective members as well as sports journalists attended the assembly.

Yanson announced the NOFA calendar under his leadership which, he said, are in keeping with the calendar of the Philippine Football Federation.

He added that the line-up of national activities was bared in a recent PFF gathering, which he attended.

The NOFA calendar of activities include the PFF Regional Football Festival in San Carlos City on March  6-8; NOFA U-13 Invitational Cup on April 9-12; National Coaching Certificate Course ; C-License Coaching Course; PFF Referees’ Course in July; Bacolod City Football Festival in April; Dynamic Football League (three conferences), and, Local Referees’ Training Program.

The NOFA president disclosed that the national invitational in April 9 to 12 will be participated in by at least 13 teams from all over the country

He added that the PFF is focused on improving officiating and coaching knowledge and skills of referees as he explained the thrust on training programs lined up by the federation.

Former national team member and varsity standout John Carmona shared the experience of the football association in San Carlos City which produced for the first time in local Palaro history the regional grade school boys’ football champion which will represent Western Visayas in the Palarong Pambansa in April.

In his opening remarks, Gus Rivas, NOFA  secretary, acknowledged officials and representatives of associations who attended the assembly and summarized the milestones gained by the association through the years.*AVDC
