Ten teams for the 40-Up and five squad in the 50-Above category are joining the 2015 Sharp-Ed Cruz Memorial Cup of the Basketball Unified Sports Group scheduled to open March 14 at the JGC Gym at Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod City, a press release from BUS G said.

Panaad's Negros Basketball Group and Alijis Basketball Club head the list of the 40-Up groups with two teams from Barangay Estefania, two from Murcia, one from La Carlota City, Sum-ag, Kap Maui Huelar's Barangay 35, and the host club BUS Group, the press release said.

In the 50-Up are Homesite's SMEC, Alijis Basketball Club, La Carlota, Ronnie Abangan's group and BUS G Huskies which confirmed their participation in the initial meeting on February 26 at Apollo Shopping, the press release said.

Teams interested  in  the 50-Up can still attend the March 5 meeting at Apollo Restaurant where clubs will submit their official lineup composed of a maximum of 15 players, pay the entrance fee of P3,000, and default bond of P500.

The 40-U teams,  that are required to pay a 4,500 entry fee and P500 default bond also on March 5, will have a single round robin elimination, a semifinal for the top 4 and a knockout final, the press release said.

It will be a double round robin affair for the 50-Up, a semifinal for the top  four and a knockout final. Prizes at stake are cash rewards and trophies according to BUSG adviser Bing Soyao.

The tournament is a tribute to former Huskie Ed Cruz who died last year during practice.*
