NOFA plans to expand membership
YANSON BARES LINE-UP OF 2015 ACTIVITIES

The new leadership of the Negros Occidental Football Association plans to increase its membership this year.

This was revealed by businessman and sports executive Ricardo  Yanson Jr., who assumed the presidency of the association in January.

“I envision to invite new members for our association to succeed,” Yanson said at the first NOFA assembly, held after many years,  at Business Inn Saturday morning.

More than 70 officers, members, players and prospective members as well as sports journalists attended the assembly.

Rams bag OroPhil cagefest title

The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos -bannered Davies Paint beat STI-West Negros University, 98-87, in the final game to capture the title and the P10,000 cash prize in the 1st OroPhil OpenBasketball Cup held Friday at the Visayan Maritime Academy Global College Gym in Sum-ag, Bacolod City.

MF Computer Solution from Silay City prevailed over Total Gas of Mansilingan, 110-106 in the battle for third place.

The showdown between Davies Paint-UNO-R Rams and STI-WNU Mustangs capped the tournament that had the Rams staging a walkout in their last semifinal game Thursday against the Mustangs.

15 teams join BUS G
Memorial Cup tourney

Ten teams for the 40-Up and five squad in the 50-Above category are joining the 2015 Sharp-Ed Cruz Memorial Cup of the Basketball Unified Sports Group scheduled to open March 14 at the JGC Gym at Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod City, a press release from BUS G said.

Panaad's Negros Basketball Group and Alijis Basketball Club head the list of the 40-Up groups with two teams from Barangay Estefania, two from Murcia, one from La Carlota City, Sum-ag, Kap Maui Huelar's Barangay 35, and the host club BUS Group, the press release said.

In the 50-Up are Homesite's SMEC, Alijis Basketball Club, La Carlota, Ronnie Abangan's group and BUS G Huskies which confirmed their participation in the initial meeting on February 26 at Apollo Shopping, the press release said.
