election conducted
The members of Class 1960 of the Negros Occidental High School in Bacolod City recently elected their new officers, led by Marietta Barron Dunseith, who will spearhead their Emerald, or 55th jubilee in April this year, ex-oficio board member Simeon Bitanga Jr. said.
Also elected as vice presidents were Hernani Hilado – 1st, Aristotle Gonzaga – 2nd, and Gerardo Proceso – 3rd.
Edna Fuentebella Pahilanga was elected secretary, with assistants Lourdes Besana Hiponia, and Vilma Jalandoon Celis; treasurer – Mila Tiangson Ledesma with assistant – Gorgonia Galvan Lacsi; auditors – Alfredo Mendoza and Alejandro Guanzon;
Business manager – Evelyn Deiterle; Public relations officer – Zenaida Parcon; and Sergeant-at-arms – Pablo Masuda.
Bacolod coordinators are Lorna Guanzon, Teresita Calsena Alejandro, Antonia Alila Diaz, and Smileta Bergalino Marquez.
Manila coordinators are Nancy Basiao Tan, Rowena Altarejos Columna, Heide Villanueva Aquino, Rafael Guerrero III, and Rolando Moscardon.*

156th SIFI outreach held
The 156th medical dental mission of the Sugar Industry Foundation Inc. and URC SONEDCO was held at the Tabugon Elementary School in Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental, recently, a press release from SIFI said.
It added that 604 sugar workers from nearby haciendas, small planters and their families benefited from the activity, and 523 of them availed of free medical consultations and medicines, 81 had dental extractions, and 80 patients had their eyes checked under the eye care program of Negros Eye Specialist Inc., under Anita Dunklin and Fred Jumbas.
More than 200 children and some adults were fed, with the feeding materials provided by Loving Rose Mission Philippines and the Ontario Gleaners of Canada.
Prevalent illnesses discovered were fever, cough and colds, LBM, back pain, hypertension, dizziness, malnutrition among children, and hyperacidity.
Assisting the SIFI were Abyan LMC of URC-SONEDCO, represented by Robelinda Sabanal, and supported by the URC SONEDCO staff; Brgy. Tabugon represented by Johnbeth Escusora, kagawad Ramil Sepeda, barangay health workers and tanods; Tabugon ES headed by principal Raul Mambalos and teaching staff. Also present was Cpl. Benson Tomas Entera of 12th IB Army Alpha Company.
The mission was participated in by Drs. Milagros Amarra, Rosimar Reyes, Eirene Ayalin, Dan Dueñas, Terry Gasataya, Enrique Serna, and Christian Senoro, and dentists Mario and Tina Oliveros and Ramon Tabat, the press release said.
The activity is part of the thrust of SIFI to provide medical, dental services and health education to sugar workers and their families, the press release added.*
