About 3,917 businesses in Bacolod City have not yet renewed their business permits as of last week, Permits and Licensing head Marie Ann Biasca said.
Biasca, however, said they have recorded an increase in the renewal of business permits this year compared to last year. From January to February last year they recorded 13,787 and 13,917 from January to February this year.
The total registration from January to December last year was 17,834, she said.


Mayor in Japan to explore
city waste to energy facility
Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella is in Japan to attend a meeting set by Marubeni Corp. to discuss a potential Waste to Energy Facility for Bacolod and its metropolitan municipalities, a press release from City Hall said.
In his invitation to Puentevella, Power Projects Investment Department senior manager Moroo Shino scheduled the mayor with Tokyo Electric wherein the Japanese electric utility service provider will lay down their idea for a suitable WTE power plant for Bacolod City, the press release said
The meeting will take place in TEPCO’s head office at Uchisaiwai-cho, Chiyoda-ku in Tokyo. Representatives from Ebara Corporation, Takatoshi Corporation and Bioenergy Co. Ltd. will also attend, the press release also said.


EDC net income up 40% in 2014
The Energy Development Corporation’s net income for 2014 went up by 40 percent to P9.2 billion from its 2013 gains of P6.6 billion, mostly earned from power sold by its three major power plants.
"We are now realizing the benefits from investments made for the Bacman plant rehabilitation works, the 150-megawatt Burgos wind and 49.4-MW Nasulo geothermal projects," EDC president and Chief Operating Officer Richard Tantoco said in a statement he issued.
EDC noted that Bacman plant boosted the consolidated revenues by more than half, contributing P2.8 billion.
