3,917 business permits
in Bacolod not renewed

About 3,917 businesses in Bacolod City have not yet renewed their business permits as of last week, Permits and Licensing head Marie Ann Biasca said.

Biasca, however, said they have recorded an increase in the renewal of business permits this year compared to last year. From January to February last year they recorded 13,787 and 13,917 from January to February this year.

The total registration from January to December last year was 17,834, she said.

Biasca said there are still many big businesses who have not renewed their business permits.

She said the city will start imposing 25 percent surcharge plus an interest of 2 percent per day starting January 21 on those who have not renewed their business permits after the February 28 extension granted by the Sangguniang Panlungsod for renewal business permits.

They were given enough time to renew their business permits. New applicants will have no penalties, Biasca said.

She said the 3,917 who have not yet renewed their business permits include public utility jeepneys and tricycles.

She said she submitted the list of tricycle and PUJ’s, who have not renewed their business permits, to Reynaldo Ebreo, head of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office-Traffic Management Unit, and he announced that those who have not renewed their business permits cannot operate and that they will start apprehending them, Biasca said.

Biasca said that after the renewal of business permits, they will go out next week to conduct business mapping, starting with big barangays like Villamonte. They will implement ordinances especially those regulating internet cafes and boarding houses.*CGS
