Mayor in Japan  to explore
city waste to energy facility

Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella is in Japan to attend a meeting set by Marubeni Corp. to discuss a potential Waste to Energy Facility for Bacolod and its metropolitan municipalities, a press release from City Hall said.

In his invitation to Puentevella, Power Projects Investment Department senior manager Moroo Shino scheduled the mayor with Tokyo Electric wherein the Japanese electric utility service provider will lay down their idea for a suitable WTE power plant for Bacolod City, the press release said

The meeting will take place in TEPCO’s head office at Uchisaiwai-cho, Chiyoda-ku in Tokyo. Representatives from Ebara Corporation, Takatoshi Corporation and Bioenergy Co. Ltd. will also attend, the press release also said.

Puentevella said that a WTE facility in Bacolod will be a “big blessing” that will support their persisting Solid Waste Management program. This too will further promote recycling and renewable energy to the community, the press release said.

He is scheduled to be back in Bacolod by early this week, the press release added.*
