The 4Ps focal person in Negros Oriental, Anne Bella TsePe, said in a press release that allegations about the misuse of cash grants from Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) for promoting dole-out mentality and alleged sensationalism” should be validated first.
Despite the criticisms, TsePe said, benefits out-weigh the alleged abuses. Upon validation, she said some public school teachers and policemen allegedly included as beneficiaries were said to be LGU-paid and the honoraria deficient to sustain a family of five members.
The penalties for those accused of cash grants misuse are: for first offense – counseling session before the Office of the Barangay Captain with written warning; second offense – withholding of the grant and a written warning from the DSWD regional director; third offense – removal from the list.
The press release also said that under the program, each household is entitled to receive a monthly grant of P300 for each child below 17 years old, and P500 as health grant. Under the program, each household is entitled to a maximum monthly cash grant of P1,400 every two months.*RG
