About 100 policemen, firefighters, jailers, law students, and other stakeholders, joined the sympathy walk and justice run in Bacolod City, yesterday morning, to commemorate the 44th day after the killing of the “Fallen 44” in a Mamasapano encounter on January 25.
Senior Supt. Roderick Alba, Philippine National Police Academy-Western Visayas chapter president, said yesterday they are extending their sympathies to the widows and dependents of the 44 Special Action Force commandos, who died in an operation to arrest Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir, alias Marwan.
Alba said they support the effort of the government in pursuing an investigation to come out with the truth about the Mamasapano tragedy.
He said he hopes the outcome of the investigation conducted by the Congress and the Board of Inquiry will have a positive effect on the Philippine National Police organization.
The theme of the event, that was organized by the graduates of the Philippine PNPA, was “Walk with Widows, Run for Heroes.” Students from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, also held a “justice run”.
The participants marched from the Provincial Lagoon at 5 a.m. to the ABS CBN television station at Lacson Street in Bacolod City, and back.*SGG
